About

Hi everyone!

I love games. I also love Shabbos. I remember long summer Shabbos afternoons playing board games with my brother and my friends. We played Risk and Monopoly, chess, and backgammon, and eventually discovered games like Axis & Allies and Conquest of the Empire. Years later, as a teenager, I discovered Settlers of Catan, and today, Settlers and has swept through the Shabbos-observant community. But as I’ve learned, there are so many great games out there! So I decided to create this site, to share my love of games with the Shabbos-observant community, and with anyone who loves to spend time with friends and family.

All the games on this site are great Shabbos games. That means:

  1. No writing, electricity or any other violation of Halacha (Jewish law) is required
  2. Unlike a game like Risk, players don’t get eliminated midway through the game – everyone plays, and has a chance to win, until the end. Parents will be especially pleased about this!
  3. Though some games are shorter and some games are longer, games on this site generally play in 1 to 2 hours.
  4. Shabbos games are not about direct conflict and war. In fact, many of them feature players cooperating to beat the game itself.
  5. Shabbos games have great replayability. You can play them over and over again because each play is unique and interesting.
  6. Shabbos games are about meaningful play. Players face interesting decisions and unique settings and situations that are deeply engaging.

I hope you’ll explore our game reviews and consider stepping into the world of Shabbos games. Whether you want your children to play something more educational than Battleship, or you’re looking for something the whole family can play, you’ll find an exciting world of games to bring joy and delight to your Shabbos.

Good Gaming,
Isaac Shalev
